Using Our Planet
The springboard for your lessons
SEARCH for relevant lessons on the teacher's page
Find the resources you need online linked to curriculum topics from light and dark to convection via solar and wind energy activities. At Key Stage 1 & 2 lessons are linked to QCA units to provide instant structure to short term and mid term planning; providing the option to combine with or fully replace units of work. At Key Stages 3 and 4 curriculum linked activities are provided that allow greater flexibility in feeding them into current teaching schemes.
DOWNLOAD the associated resources with ease
The resources associated with each lesson are clearly identified and linked within the lesson plans enabling you to download video clips, quizzes, cartoons, power points and worksheets to support your lessons.
ENGAGE your class
Lesson plans contain practical activities for the whole class e.g. measuring wind strength, building renewably powered devices and monitoring energy consumption. The short video clips link to quizzes and memorable cartoon strips that reinforce learning as well as entertain your class.
FREE style!
Use the online video clips to lead you into your lessons or let your class explore the site on their own. Watch the series of informative video clips that cover key concepts and introduce renewable technologies as part of your own lessons. The clips progress from a basic introduction to the power source (wind or sun) getting progressively more technical. Elements of the video clips will appeal to different age groups and pupils with different abilities, so it is worth watching them to decide which you'd like to use for your unique class. They include interviews with experts, real life footage and some animations to clarify difficult concepts.
If you are interested in putting a renewable energy system on your school, you can fill in a site assessment form.
